Value follows innovation: Master’s Students Visit Uvex in Fürth
On Friday, November 14, our Master’s students from Materials Science and Engineering and Nanotechnology visited the company Uvex in Fürth for an inspiring and highly informative excursion. The day began with an introduction to the idea behind Uvex’s vision “Value follows innovation!”, offering insights into the company’s strong focus on protecting people, uncompromising quality, and continuous innovation.
Throughout the visit, the group was guided through several key areas of the company. In the Uvex Lab, Simon Dombrowski, Product Manager Safety Eyewear, demonstrated how Uvex products are rigorously tested to ensure their reliability even under the most demanding conditions.
A particular highlight was the tour of the fully automated production line. The impressive combination of robotics, precision injection molding, and advanced coating technologies showcased how automation can significantly enhance quality and efficiency in modern manufacturing.
The excursion concluded with an open Q&A session with Uvex’s HR department, offering valuable insights into career opportunities as well as the company’s working culture.
Afterwards, Dr. Marcus Knorr-Held, FAU alumnus in Materials Science and Engineering, shared how his studies and career path led him to his current role as Head of Strategic Research & Development at Uvex. Before the group headed into the weekend full of new impressions, Frederik Leikauf thanked him warmly on behalf of the Department of Materials Science at the FAU for organizing such an engaging and insightful day for our students.
